Privacy Policy

What Tryit collects when you use it, the services that process it, how long we keep it, and the rights you can exercise.

Last updated: 28 September 2026

Who is responsible for your data

Sylphx Limited (company number 16438428), registered office: 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom, is the controller of your personal data under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Information We Collect

We collect only what a play needs: the answers and short text you enter (such as a product description or a name), device and browser information, and anonymous usage events. We do not ask for an account, we take no photo uploads, and we do not collect email addresses unless you write to us.

Generated images and voice

When you describe a product, the description is sent to fal.ai to generate one image, which is shown with a watermark and kept with your result. We do not use what you type to train AI models. The Cantonese speed test measures your voice in your browser only; no audio is recorded, stored or sent. Photo experiences were retired on 26 September 2026, and the results made from them were deleted then.

How we use your data, and our legal basis

We use what you enter to produce and show your result, and to keep its share link working, because you asked us to: our contract with you, and our legitimate interest in providing Tryit. We use device, usage and error data to keep Tryit secure, prevent abuse, fix faults, and understand and improve our experiences: our legitimate interests in running a safe and working service. We keep or share data where the law requires it, or to establish or defend legal claims. We do not sell your personal data.

Cookies & Local Storage

We use browser local storage to remember your preferences (theme, language), keep an anonymous identity so a result stays yours on this device, and store installation state. Google Analytics stores identifiers in your browser to count visits and measure how Tryit is used, and it starts only after you accept. Tryit shows no advertising and sets no advertising cookies. A banner on your first visit asks whether to allow these analytics cookies, both answers are one press, and you can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings in the footer: rejecting stops the analytics and deletes its cookies. You can also clear or block cookies and local storage in your browser settings.

Third-Party Services

We use: fal.ai for image generation and Sylphx AI, our own AI service, for text; our cloud provider for hosting and storage; Google Analytics for anonymous usage analytics; Sylphx Observability, our own error-monitoring service, which records an error's message and technical details with the page path and the pages visited just before it, never the page's text or email addresses, and records no replays; and web push services. When you follow a link from Tryit into another of our products, such as Puzzled or Viszy, the link carries a campaign tag and your result's ID so that product can count the visit; nothing else is shared. The Worldreign and Dearhouse experiences, when available, send what you enter there to those games, run by Cubeage, to make your result or invite. Each service has its own privacy policy. We may also share data with professional advisers, authorities where the law requires it, and a buyer or successor if our business is sold or reorganised.

International transfers

Some of these services process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or safeguards the law approves, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses. Contact us for a copy.

Data Retention

Results, including generated images, are kept for 90 days so their share links keep working. Anonymous analytics events, streaks and referral records are kept for 12 months. We may keep data for longer only where the law requires it or to establish or defend legal claims. You may ask for deletion at any time, and "Delete my data" on your profile erases everything we hold for your anonymous id at once.

Your Rights

You have the right to access the data we hold about you, correct it, ask for it to be deleted or restricted, receive it in a portable form, and turn off push notifications at any time. You have the right to object at any time to our use of your data based on our legitimate interests. We answer requests within one month, which the law allows us to extend by up to two further months for complex or numerous requests; we make reasonable and proportionate searches, and we may refuse or charge a reasonable fee for a request that is manifestly unfounded or excessive. Because Tryit has no accounts, we may ask for details, such as a result link, to find your data. You can complain to us, and to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) or your local supervisory authority.

Children

Tryit is intended for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13; if you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Security and breaches

We protect personal data with appropriate technical and organisational measures, but no service is completely secure. If a personal data breach occurs, we notify the ICO where the law requires, and we tell affected people directly where the breach is likely to result in a high risk to their rights and freedoms.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy and will post the new version here with a new date. If we plan to use personal data for a new purpose, we will say so here before we do.
